What We Do

Our Agriculture Initiatives

The Agriculture Department promotes food security and income generation. The program uses practical and community-based farming models. It targets youth, children, and vulnerable households. Agriculture is used to create employment, improve nutrition, and build skills.

Rice Farming and Youth Employment

  • Established a four-acre rice farm in Kachumbala, Butebo District.

  • Invested USD 8,000 in farm development.

  • Engaged 200 youth across the full agricultural value chain.

  • Activities included land preparation, planting, harvesting, and milling.

  • Sold rice on the local market.

  • Processed part of the rice into Nutritious Porridge Flour.

  • Distributed flour to malnourished children and vulnerable families.

Agricultural Training and Capacity Building

  • Hosted more than 10,000 farmers, agricultural students, and community members.

  • Provided hands-on training in modern farming practices.

  • Established the farm as a regional learning center.

Children’s Agriculture Project

  • Received donated land measuring 50ft x 100ft in Kagogwa, Jinja District.

  • Launched a hands-on agricultural project for children.

  • Enrolled an initial group of 18 children.

  • Established tomato production on the site.

  • Projected yields range from 0.1 to 0.2 metric tonnes across harvest cycles.

OUTCOMES

  • Employment created for 200 youth.

  • Practical farming skills developed among youth and learners.

  • Increased local rice production.

  • Improved nutrition support for vulnerable families.

  • Early agricultural skills introduced to children.
